"Our daughter Pratiksha is the precious part of our life. Since she joined our family, our days were always brighter watching the cuteness of her tiny arms, little fingers & toes and rosy cheeks. But now we truly worry, will we have her in our life forever. As a poor family, we did not have a lot to look up, but the news of our first child kept us elated even when the going was rough. Pratiksha's condition was far from normal at birth, as she suffered from low birth weight and apnea of prematurity. But the doctors assured us with the growing age, she will be fine. When our baby turned 10 months old, she began suffering with constant health issues such as recurrent high fever, frequent loose motions, followed by constant swelling on her eyes. All the suggested treatment plans under went by us, but it did not impact her health. We also took her to the eye specialist doctor, who then advised us a multi-specialty hospital. There, we underwent for her certain blood tests, in which it was detected that WBC count has increased. After conducting several other medical investigations, Pratiksha was diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer -"Acute Myeloid Leukemia". The treatment that can save her is Chemotherapy and other supportive care worth Rs. 5 lakh approx.Basically, we are from Bihar. Currently, due to Pratiksha's medical emergency, we are staying in the hospital premises. All our savings & borrowed funds have been utilized in her treatment so far. Still our baby is struggling to survive and we have no means to reach her treatment cost. It is extremely precarious for me to describe the pain of seeing my child ripped away. I have no other choice but to plead to the kind people to have mercy on my baby and help supporting us to save her life through Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF)”.
